A Hard Year, A Growing YearAt Wild Woman
Oil, pastel, and graphite on canvas, 10 x 8"
In the middle of a cold Colorado January, I began unknowingly painting a few rich memories from summer, perhaps as an attempt to get through the toughest part of the season.
This piece has some Colorado-inspired elements, like the big sun and sweeping mountain lines, but other memories and influences also come into play. The various shades of pink and raw sienna bring to mind western Colorado and Utah, one of my favorite places to spend time in the spring.
As for the deep blue corner, 2019 was my first year to ever see Monet's work in person. Taking in his murals at Musée de l'Orangerie in Paris nearly brought me to tears and has been a real artistic highlight in my life.
Ready to hang: Canvas depth is 3/4 inch deep on wood frame and sides are painted to match the front. Comes with certificate of authenticity.
